Abstract: Embryonic Stem Cell (ESC) is the cell derived from an inner cell mass of blastocyst. Microscopic images often contain some amount of noises and hence image filtering is very important to reduce and eliminate noise in images. In the present study, some of common filtering techniques such as Median, Gaussian, and Wiener filter, are applied to the same image. The filtered images are then evaluated by applying canny edge detection to detect the edges of cells in image. Morphological analysis is performed to filter out some unnecessary edges. Region props used to generate rectangle around detected cells. Based on detected edges, the performance of filtering techniques is evaluated. It is found that the Wiener filter achieves better result than those obtained from the other methods.
