Abstract: The use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in Timor-Leste higher education, more specifically at the National University of Timor Lorosa’e (UNTL), has not yet been common. The use of ICT to support the teaching and learning processes has been already recognized in higher education institutions in many countries. This paper reports the problems and benefits experienced by students and lectures using ICT in Engineering, Science and Technology at UNTL. As a central instrument in the data collection process, questionnaires were given to. 112 students and 20 lectures in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Geology and Petroleum. This work is a first approach for characterizing the context and the institutional interests. The results show a lack of knowledge of using digital resources, which links to support a prototype model in future.
