Evaluation of Mechanical Properties of Hollow Steel in Timor-Leste Market

Abstract: Hollow steel is a significant material, which are used for the roof, windows, and doors frame, and sometimes used for the structural of building. It gives buildings a better strength-to-weight ratio. Therefore, in this research the physical material and quality of mechanical properties of hollow steel were studied. The sample taken from different suppliers (Indonesia and Chinese supplier) in Timor-Leste were investigated and evaluated. Yield strength, tensile strength and effective thickness of the samples were compared to the requirement value to the American standard.
