Abstract: This paper presents a four-band resistor value calculation system using simple image processing techniques. The system starts with using RGB color space to separate the R, G and B components in image. Next, image thresholding is applied to extract the colors from the resistor’s body. The details of the image often reduced after the thresholding process. Thus, image reconstruction is needed to be performed to make image better. Color identification will be applied to identity the color and continue with the color ring detection. Finally, the value of the resistor is calculated based on identified color and detected color ring. All the process in this research is designed into a GUI for user friendly purpose.
